November 11th

Hello everyone,
How was your weekend? Did you go out for Shichi-Go-San? Did you have other events planned? Do you know what day it was last Saturday - on November 11th?

In Japan, November 11th is known as Pockey day. Lots of students like this day.
But in many countries it is known as Remembrance Day. What does this mean?

It marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918. But now, the anniversary is used to remember all the people who have died in wars - not just World War One.
A two-minute silence is held at 11am to remember the people who have died in wars.
So November 11th is the day where many of us remember and honor the sacrifices by people in the wars. Around this time, just after Halloween and shortly before the 11th (and shortly after as well), you see many people wearing poppies on their collar or lapel. These have become the symbol for this special day.
Every year, volunteers make poppies available around the world and people make a donation in order to get their poppy. The money raised from these donations is used to help servicemen and women who are still alive, whose lives have been changed by wars that they fought in.
So if you see someone wearing a poppy in November, now you know why.

秋も終わり！

ご近所の庭にたわわと実っている柿ですが、今週いっぱいで落ちてしまいそうですね！一雨ごとに寒さが身に染みる時期となってきました。そろそろ、冬物の服一式揃えた方がよさそうですね！私の練習着も冬物に切り替えま～す!(^^)!　1214(k.h)

う～ん、残念っ！

11月も半ばになってきました。皆さん風邪などひいていませんか、月曜Today!です。

皆さんすでにご承知のとおり、先週の土曜日は高校サッカー選手権東京都大会の決勝でした。成立学園男子サッカー部も二年連続で決勝戦進出。相手も昨年と同じ関東一高でした。気持ちよく晴れた駒沢陸上競技場で応援に駆けつけました。
同じ舞台で同じ相手ですからね、これは格好のリベンジを果たす機会だと応援にも力が入ります。
試合は0-0でずっと展開していたのですが、後半30分過ぎに関東一高に決められて先制されます。そこから追いつこうと攻めますが、残念ながら相手ゴールは割れませんでした。スコアも去年と同じ0-1となってしまいました。前半山ほどコーナーキックを得ていたので、やはりこういうチャンスを逃し続けていると流れも変わってしまうということなのかな、と帰り道に思いました。

選手のみなさん、お疲れさまでした。残った部員たちはこの悔しさを胸に来年を目指しましょう。　　Y.F.(11/13)

Japan is a magical place

I was taking a walk recently and passed by a shop that sells vegetables. But...there was no one there selling them! The shop was already closed, but the vegetables were still available. You could take what you want and just put the money to pay for it through a small slot. This could never happen in America! Japan is a magical place.

写真は「ジャパンバードフェスティバル ２０１７」のポスターです！千葉県我孫子市手賀沼の湖畔にある「鳥の博物館」「水の館」「鳥類研究所」等を中心に"人と鳥の共存をめざして"をテーマとしたイベントです。国内では最大級の祭典で、１１/４～１１/５は毎年大勢の参加者で盛り上がります!(^^)!
　「鳥類研究所」には、皇族の方も研究で頻繁に通われていた時期があったようですよ(^^)v

今年も決勝進出！

みなさんお元気ですか、月曜Today!です。

さて、土曜日の準決勝に勝利した成立学園サッカー部は11月11日に全国を掛けて決勝戦を行います。相手は昨年と同じ関東一高です。こんどこそリベンジです。
と、いう記事を書こうと思ったらすでに書かれてしまったので、あきらめます(-_-メ)
