Summertime is family time

Hello everyone

hope you're looking forward to the summer (well maybe not right now with all this heat but...). I hope you will have a chance sometime during the summer to spend some time with your family. In North America, it is very common to enjoy the summer time with friends and family in an outdoor setting. Many times people will have a barbecue. In Japan too, many people will have some time to have a barbecue often in a campground or somewhere near a river. How about you? Will you go somewhere and have a barbecue?
For our students we practiced (just a little bit) asking for types of food so that, if they have a chance, they can try it this summer with their families.
We also talked a little bit about asking for stuff for shaved ice (like ice and syrup) and for ice cream treats. It's an easy way to add a little bit of English to a fun family activity.
So, the next time you do something like this, please ask your kids: "What do you want?" or "What do you need?" and see if they can answer.
