夏休み最終日・・・

まいどー
僕世代であれば今日が夏休みの最終日で宿題に追われていた記憶があります。しかし、最近は今週から始まっている子供も多くいますね。
うーん。これだけ暑い日が続くから、逆に夏休みが長くなっても良い気がするけど・・・

火曜日のゼブラTodayでは、東京からの写真でしたが、今回は鷲宮グランドからの写真です。すごい臨場感でした!!

English words

It's summertime but it's almost finished. There seems to be a lot of cicadas making noise in the trees. Speaking of cicadas, have you ever noticed that lots of boys sure love bugs. Some girls too, but not that many.
And when kids like something, they sure do get a lot of information about that. They learn so much and they learn so fast. If your son (or daughter) likes bugs, how about you teaching him some of the words in English.

Here's a quick list of sample words:
Dig, burrow, nocturnal, feed, wings, antenna, lifespan, lay eggs, nest

Can you do this with something else that your children are interested in? Do they like swimming or cheerleading or playing basketball? Are they interested in trains or vehicles? Do they spend all their time playing video games?

If it's something they are interested in, they just might pick up the English words much more quickly.

答えは、山形県の銀山温泉でした。

雲？！

　ゼブラの館山フェスからの帰り、夕方に北の方に異様な雲が現れ、高速道路から写真に収め家で調べた所、「かなとこ雲」という異常に発達した積乱雲だそうで、雲の中心部では稲光が見えました。茨城県の古河市辺りで起きた珍しい現象だそうです。8/28(k.h)

スクール再開♬

今週からスクール活動が再開しました。
久々に会う子供達は様々な経験をして大きく成長していました!!
夏休みに何をしていたのか聞いたら、みんな目を輝かせて話してくれました♬

Stamp Rally

Every year there are many "stamp rallies" held in and around Tokyo. They are an excellent chance for family members to spend time together and have fun.
You can also use them as a chance to study a little English while you are spending time together. I can give you some ideas here on how to do that. You can use some of the following phrases:
Let's go to (Ikebukuro) station.
Where will we go next?
How many stops between A and B?
Which train do we need?
When is the next train?
Where is the stamp?
Are you ready?
Are we finished?

Nobody in your family has to speak perfect English to take advantage of these chances. In two years, there will be visitors from all over the world coming for the Olympics. For most of them, English is their second language too.
Start practicing now so that, in two years, you can have chances to interact with people from all around the world.
