Underdogs!

Underdog means someone who everyone thinks will lose, but he/she wins. In pro-sumo this year one underdog, Tokushoryu, won the tournament championship in January. It was totally unexpected. If he can do it, so can you! Fight!

富士見のゼブラ

成立ゼブラの事務所がある建物の4階から、富士山が見えます。
真西に富士山の頂上部分が少しだけ見えるも、嬉しいものです。新幹線の高架が無ければ、もう少し見えるのかな？同じ北区ですと、JR王子駅から歩いてすぐの場所にある「北とぴあは」17階展望ロビーがおすすめ。

柚！

なんと近所に"柚"の木がありました(^^)/　柚の出荷は１１月中旬から１２月下旬がピークで、料理のバイプレイヤーとして大活躍のシーズンとなります。冬至(今年は１２月２１日)には、柚風呂で楽しみたいですね～!(^^)!

After school (Part 3): Avoiding video games

Hello everyone,


We were talking about after school activities for a few weeks. I wanted to give one message about what to avoid - if possible.


There are certain activities that are not very good for over-active children. Computer and video games are not normally good. Since these games need no interaction, children will feel all the more isolated. And they often need excitement so they will look for more aggressive games. These children also find it difficult to distinguish between the good and the bad messages in the games. They may therefore show an inclination to stick to messages that are not so good for them. Also, even games that need the child to sit and wait for his turn patiently often just create extra stress.


Games are easy to give to kids to amuse them, and they certainly like them, but they are not very good in the long term. If you still wish to let your kids play video games, there are a few options that some people try to help balance the game time. You can play the games with your child. Using a Switch (or Play Station, etc) on the TV and having the whole family play together can be beneficial. Or using it as a reward. There are different opinions on this but it is something to consider.


I hope this will help you select an "after-school activity" - one that is fulfilling, tiring, as well as challenging.

シマウマの縞って何？

動物の模様は、捕食者から逃れるためのもの。
これは霊長類以外の哺乳類は色の識別能力が低いことと関連している。つまり、シマウマの白黒の模様は、霊長類以外の哺乳類が遠くから見た場合には草原の模様に埋もれ判別しにくいとされるからだという。wikiより。

なるほど、大胆な白黒が意外と分からないのだな！と思っていたところ、こんな説もありました。

「空気がシマウマの体に当たると、熱をよりよく吸収する黒い部分は、白い部分よりも空気の流れが強く速くなる。この対流で小さな空気の渦が起き、シマウマの皮膚を涼しく保つのではないかという」National Geographicより。ああ、分からなくなってまいりました。次回に続くか？

"ゼブラ"ですよね！これは、千葉県我孫子市市制施行５０周年記念事業として開催されている「プリウスの動物たち」での展示物のひとつです。市内９ヶ所に展示されているそうですが、ゼブラが一番ですね(^^)v　

レーズンパン

レーズンがたっぷり入っているパンを頂きました。
切った途端に溢れ出てくるレーズンにアワアワしながらも
軽くトーストして発酵バターを塗って食べました。

美味しかった～！！
