Build a home-library

To continue our short series about reading...
A skill like reading cannot be learnt in isolation. Do not leave all the hard work to your child's teachers or an after-school program. Pick up books that you think your child will like. Create a nice spot to store the books and maybe even display them if you can. Praise them for being a reader.
(The Internet is also a rich resource of reading games that will attract little children to the fine art of reading. But having an actual library at home seems to work wonders.)
Not everyone can make a big fancy space for the books, but a comfy (comfortable) and fun chair (like a bean bag chair) or a cool lamp can make all the difference. The key is to try something to make it appealing.
