New Year's traditions around the world
It's almost New Year's time! Different countries celebrate New Year's time in different ways. Let's look at some traditions in different countries.
United States: Watching the ball drop
Millions of Americans gather around their television sets to watch the ball drop at the stroke of midnight each year. This tradition started in 1907.
Brazil: Heading to the beach
In Brazil, people usually go to the beach since it's the summer there.
Spain: Eating 12 grapes
The Spanish start off their new year by eating 12 grapes, which symbolize each strike of the clock.
India: Building a sculpture of an old man and burning it down
In Mumbai, they make an effigy of an 'old man' that symbolizes the old year and burn it at midnight.
Haiti: Sharing soup joumou
They eat pumpkin soup (soup joumou) because it was a delicacy that enslaved Black people were not allowed to have before Haitian independence.
Denmark: Throwing old plates
Throwing old plates to break them is supposed to bring your family good luck.

真冬のど根性トマト
夏前にミニトマトの苗木を購入し栽培しておりました。
イメージだと「ぶどう」のように、たわわになるミニトマト！を想像していたのですが、実際には2～3粒毎にできました。興味深いことに秋を過ぎ冬を迎えてもトマトはできて、今はこんな様子であります。
ピンポン玉よりも一回り小さいのが色付き始めました。
この寒い中、頭が下がる思いです。
今年最後の練習！
１２月２５日は、ゼブラ選手コースの今年最後の練習でした！スタッフチームとの試合などで大いに盛り上がりました(^^♪ 皆の表情が楽しそうで心が温まります(^_-)-☆
１月は、選手コースが１/８(日)、スクールは１/１２(木)がスタートとなります。来年もよろしくお願いいたします。
和とアート
敷居の高そうな老舗感のある建物ですが、実はお蕎麦屋さん。
外観から建物の随所に素朴なアートが散りばめられ、重厚にして温かみのあるお店です。
接客もお料理もおもてなしの心が行き届き、とても癒されました。

２０２２年 カタールW杯！！
２０２２年カタールW杯 アルゼンチン代表が優勝をし幕を閉じました。日々の寝不足から解放されたのではないでしょうか？各国これから退会分析を行い２０２６年W杯ではどんな試合を各国が戦うのか楽しみですね(^^♪サッカーは日々進化を続けております。成立ゼブラFCでも最新のトレーニングを実施し選手達に将来あのピッチで戦えるようにしていきたいです(*^^)v
いつの日か、日本代表がトロフィーを掲げる日がくるのを楽しみにし、応援しましょう！！
Winter holidays
Zebra English club has already finished up the year but some people still have classes and work. We wish you all a wonderful holiday season and we will see you in the new year!
乳酸発酵食品
かぶら寿司は、かぶらに切り込みを入れてブリを挟んで発酵させたなれずし。石川県の加賀地方産のものが全国的に有名だが、富山県西部など、能登地方を除く旧・加賀藩の地域で広く作られる。wikiより引用。
広い意味での漬物、鮨の原型ともいうべき食品です。
「お酒の肴にどうぞ！」と頂いたのですが、思いのほか優しい味で炊き立てご飯でがふがふといただきました。
問題はもう残り少ないこと。金沢～富山のアンテナショップで探してみますか。
男女優勝！
１２月１８日(日)"第１２回 北区中学校バスケットボール北区ジュニアカップ"が開催され、ゼブラバスケットボールクラブ・U-１２男女が参加いたしました。毎年恒例の北区の中学１年生大会に北区のミニバスチームも参加する交流大会です。何と男女共にブロック優勝いたしました～(^^)v
２０２２年カタールW杯
サッカー ２０２２年カタールW杯も残す試合は決勝戦と３位決定戦ですね。日本代表もいつかはこのステージでの景色を見てみたいものです。その為には、現在の小学生や中学生の育成が大事になってきますね(^^♪
本日の写真は、カタールW杯で使用しているスタジアム「ハリーファ国際スタジアム」カタールW杯で唯一新設していない伝統あるスタジアム！！日本代表戦ではドイツやスペインと戦ったスタジアムになります。３位決定戦も使用するスタジアムになっています。カタールに行った際は是非見てみてはどうでしょうか(*^^)v
Holiday season and home schooling work
The holiday season is a wonderful time to connect with family and find ways to apply regular learning with real life applications.
Instead of using textbooks, we can replace that kind of learning with practical, real-life things such as menu planning, cooking, party planning, decorating, shopping for presents on a budget, making various crafts for homemade gifts, writing Christmas cards, practicing for plays and musicals at church, and the list goes on.
It is hard to do if both parents are working but investing now so that once children know how to write the cards or nengajo, they can do it every year and you will save some time that way in future years. They can help with the cooking for the holidays. They can help with the shopping. It is giving them real life skills and spending time together and enjoying the holidays all rolled in together.
